Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pokhara to Forest Camp via Kande

Your adventure begins with a scenic 1-hour drive from Pokhara to Kande. From here, the trail ascends through the beautiful Australian Camp and the charming village of Pothana. You will trek for approximately 5–6 hours through lush forests, catching your first glimpses of the towering peaks.

  • Target Altitude: 2,550 m

  • Accommodation: Traditional Mountain Teahouse

Day 2: Forest Camp to High Camp

Prepare for a day of dramatic scenery as you climb for 6–7 hours through dense oak and rhododendron forests. As the treeline thins, the landscape shifts to rugged alpine terrain. Upon reaching High Camp, you will be rewarded with staggering, unobstructed views of Machapuchhare (Fishtail) and Annapurna South.

  • Target Altitude: 3,580 m

  • Highlight: Sunset views over the Annapurna range.

Day 3: High Camp to Mardi Himal Viewpoint & Low Camp

Rise before dawn for an unforgettable hike to the Mardi Himal Viewpoint (4,200 m). For those with high fitness levels, an optional push to Base Camp (4,500 m) offers the ultimate vantage point. After witnessing a golden sunrise over the Himalayas, you will begin your descent to Low Camp.

  • Hiking Duration: 7–8 hours total

  • Target Altitude: 2,970 m (Low Camp)

Day 4: Low Camp to Siding Village and Return to Pokhara

The final day features a scenic 4–5 hour descent through traditional villages and terraced fields to Siding. After a short walk to Lumre, a private vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Pokhara (approx. 1.5 hours), marking the end of your Himalayan expedition.

Essential Trekking Information

To ensure you have the best possible experience, please review the following details:

1. Best Time to Trek

The ideal windows for the Mardi Himal Trek are Spring (March to May), when the rhododendrons are in full bloom, and Autumn (September to November), which offers the clearest skies and crispest mountain views.

2. Difficulty Level

This is considered a moderate trek. While no technical climbing skills are required, travelers should be in good physical condition as the trail involves several steep uphill and downhill sections.

3. Required Permits

To trek in this region, two permits are mandatory:

  • ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit)

  • TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) Card (Note: These are usually arranged by your trekking agency.)

4. What to Pack

  • Gear: Sturdy trekking boots, a warm down jacket, moisture-wicking layers, and a high-quality sleeping bag.

  • Essentials: Trekking poles, a headlamp, reusable water bottles, and high-SPF sunscreen.

5. Accommodation & Meals

Accommodation consists of cozy, family-run teahouses. While basic, they provide warm blankets and hearty meals. You can expect a variety of food ranging from the traditional Dal Bhat (lentil soup and rice) to pasta and pancakes.

6. Altitude Safety

While this is a relatively short trek, altitude sickness is a possibility. Our guides are trained to monitor your health and ensure a safe, gradual ascent. Staying hydrated and maintaining a steady pace are key to a successful summit.
