Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pokhara to Forest Camp via Kande

Your adventure begins with a scenic one-hour drive from Pokhara to Kande, the gateway to the ridge. From here, the trail ascends through the lush Australian Camp and the charming village of Pothana. As you walk for about 5 to 6 hours, the bustle of the city fades, replaced by the whispers of ancient forests.

  • Altitude: 2,550 m

  • Duration: 5–6 hours trekking

  • Accommodation: Mountain Teahouse

Day 2: The Ascent to High Camp

Today is a journey through biodiversity. You will trek for 6 to 7 hours through dense moss-covered oak and rhododendron forests. As you climb higher, the trees begin to thin, revealing the dramatic silhouette of Machapuchhare (Fishtail) and Annapurna South. We reach High Camp, where the air is crisp and the vistas are expansive.

  • Altitude: 3,580 m

  • Duration: 6–7 hours trekking

  • Accommodation: Mountain Teahouse

Day 3: Sunrise at Mardi Viewpoint & Descent to Low Camp

We start before dawn to witness a spectacle: the sunrise over the Himalayas. A 3-to-4-hour hike brings us to the Mardi Himal Viewpoint (4,200 m). For those feeling energetic, we can continue to the Base Camp (4,500 m). After soaking in the 360-degree mountain views, we begin our descent back to Low Camp.

  • Altitude: 4,200 m (Viewpoint) / 2,970 m (Low Camp)

  • Duration: 7–8 hours total

  • Accommodation: Mountain Teahouse

Day 4: Siding Village and Return to Pokhara

On our final day, we descend through the traditional village of Siding. This path offers a glimpse into the local lifestyle and terraced farming culture of Nepal. After a 4-to-5-hour trek, we reach Lumre, where our private vehicle will be waiting to whisk you back to Pokhara, marking the end of an incredible journey.

  • Duration: 5 hours trekking / 1 hour drive

Essential Trip Information

1. Best Time to Trek

  • Spring (March–May): Best for rhododendron blooms and stable weather.

  • Autumn (September–November): Offers the clearest skies and sharpest mountain views.

2. Physical Fitness While this is a “moderate” trek, it involves steep ascents and descents. A basic level of cardio fitness (walking, jogging, or hiking) is recommended to enjoy the experience comfortably.

3. Required Permits Trekking in this region requires two main permits:

  • ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) Permit.

  • TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management Systems) Card.

  • Note: These are usually arranged by your trekking agency.

4. What to Pack

  • Clothing: Layering is key. Bring moisture-wicking base layers, a warm down jacket, and waterproof outer shells.

  • Footwear: Broken-in trekking boots with good ankle support.

  • Gear: A headlamp (essential for the Day 3 sunrise hike), trekking poles, and a reusable water bottle with purification tablets.

5. Accommodation & Meals You will stay in local teahouses. While cozy, facilities are basic. Meals typically include the traditional Dal Bhat (lentils and rice), pasta, and soups, providing the “mountain fuel” you need for the climb.

6. Why Choose a Private Trek? A private trek ensures that your guide focuses entirely on your safety, interests, and photography needs. It allows for flexibility in the itinerary should you need an extra break or wish to spend more time at a specific viewpoint.
