Editor’s Note
“What makes this specific itinerary special is the balance. Many tours rush through these locations, but we’ve timed the domestic flights and hotel stays to ensure you actually feel the places you visit. My personal tip: Don’t miss the sunset at the Library of Celsus in Ephesus—the way the marble glows gold is something you’ll remember for a lifetime.”
City Legends & Mysteries
The Legend of the Maiden’s Tower (Istanbul):
Legend has it that a Byzantine Emperor built this tower in the middle of the Bosphorus to protect his beloved daughter from a prophecy: she was destined to die from a snake bite on her 18th birthday. He locked her away, but fate is unavoidable. On her birthday, a basket of fruit was brought to the tower; a hidden asp crawled out and fulfilled the prophecy. Today, the tower stands as a beautiful, tragic monument to the fact that you cannot run from destiny.
